In many cases, it may be beneficial to completely remove VRChat and all of its files, and reinstall. Here's how you can do this on the platforms that we currently ship on.
Note
These steps only include clearing out the VRChat application which might not fix all issues. Please refer to our troubleshooting article for information on how to fully clear all VRChat settings and cache.
Meta Quest
- Press the Universal Menu button on your right Touch controller to pull up your universal menu.
- Select the grid icon to access your library.
- Find and hover over VRChat.
- Select the three dots icon.
- Select Uninstall, then confirm the uninstall.
Steam
- Right click VRChat in Steam.
- Click Properties.
- Click Local Files, then click Browse. A new File Explorer window will appear.
- Switch back to Steam.
- Right click VRChat in Steam again. Hover over Manage, then click Uninstall.
- Once the uninstall is complete, go back to the File Explorer window that was opened in Step 3.
- Select everything in that folder and delete it.
- Close the window.
Oculus PC
- Go to your Oculus Library.
- Click the three dots on the bottom right of the VRChat card.
- Click Details. Click on the Location to copy it to your clipboard.
- Open up a Windows Explorer window and paste the address in.
- Go back to the Oculus Library, click the three dots, and click Uninstall.
- Wait for the uninstall to complete. Go back to the Windows Explorer window.
- Select everything in that folder and delete it.
- Close the window.
After you have uninstalled VRChat completely, reinstall it via the normal method for your platform.
