VRChat is not responding/Your connection has timed out

If you get a pop-up in VRChat with one of these messages:

  • VRChat is not responding
  • Your connection has timed out

There's been an issue with the connection between your device and VRChat's real-time networking servers, and the connection will be reset.

We're always working to make our experience smoother and more robust. However, many things can affect your connection to VRChat's servers, including packet drops within your network, on your router or modem, or in your ISP's connection to VRChat. In many of these cases, there's not a lot that can be done to fix this, and the issue will often go away on its own.

If you're repeatedly experiencing this issue, check the VRChat Status Page and make sure there are no active incidents. If an incident is active, your connection is more likely to be affected.
