Verify Game Files
- Open Steam and right-click VRChat in your library.
- Select Properties > Local Files.
- Click "Verify Integrity of Game Files."
Update Windows, Drivers, and External Programs
- Ensure your Windows is up to date (only Windows 10 and 11 Stable builds are supported; Windows 7 is not).
- Update your GPU drivers to the latest version.
- If experiencing low frame rates, uninstall virtual audio software (e.g., VoiceMeeter, MorphVox) as their drivers can cause performance issues.
- Whitelist VRChat.exe in your antivirus and firewall settings.
- If whitelisting doesn't work, temporarily disable real-time protection on both your antivirus and firewall to check if they're causing the issue.
VRChat is only supported the current main-line Stable builds of
Windows 10 and 11.
If you're using a
Steam Deck, VRChat is supported on
SteamOS through Proton. Other Linux distributions may work
but are not officially supported.
Computer Specs
- Ensure your PC meets VRChat’s recommended specs. Most modern PCs with a dedicated GPU built within the last three years should perform well.
- Be mindful that VRChat contains user-generated content, which can sometimes be unoptimized, causing crashes or performance issues.
- Gaming laptops are typically less powerful than desktops, so performance may vary.
Connection Issues
- As a last resort for connection issues, try using a VPN. Cloudflare's WARP is allowed, but some other VPNs may be blocked.
Using a VPN may or may not have certain legal limitations in your country. Please ensure you know your local regulations.
