Unable to switch out of an avatar

We're aware that some avatars can put you in a state where you crash when loading into an instance, the instance immediately reloads, or you can't access your menu because of viewpoint problems.

You don't need to contact Support to fix this. Here are a few ways you can reset your avatar at any time:

1. On PC: While VRChat is open, press Ctrl + \ at the same time. This locally switches you to the gray robot avatar so you can change to a different one.
2. In VR: Hold down both Quick Menu buttons while VRChat is loading. Your avatar will be reset once you load into a world.
   • For example, on Meta Quest 3 these are the B and Y buttons. The buttons may differ depending on your headset.
   • Keep holding both Quick Menu buttons until you've fully loaded into your home world.

If you have a VRChat account, you can also reset your avatar from the website. Go to the Avatars page and select Reset to Default Avatar.
