Hiding Avatars

Avatars are how users represent themselves in VRChat. Whether custom-made or publicly available, everyone wears one. Some avatars may not appeal to you, and you have complete control over how or if they’re displayed.

Avatar visibility follows your Safety Settings by default. You can adjust how a user’s avatar appears via the Quick Menu, or hide specific avatars globally so you never see them, regardless of who is wearing them. Note that if multiple users upload copies or versions of the same avatar, hiding or adjusting one will not affect the others.

Please refer to the article Safety Resources: For Players to learn about Safety Settings.

🛡️ Avatar Display and Hiding

These options show you how the avatar of the target user will be displayed to you. To access the avatar display options, select a user in your instance. These options are located underneath the User Actions section.

🫥 Hide an avatar globally

Hiding an avatar globally will stop you from seeing that specific avatar, regardless of who is wearing it. To hide an avatar globally, select a user wearing the target avatar and press the Hide Avatar Globally button. This can be undone by pressing this button again.
