How do I Request Ownership of an Inactive Group?

If you'd like to request ownership of a group with an inactive owner, you've come to the right place! VRChat support can help transfer a group to an eligible admin or moderator.

If you want to transfer a group you own to another user, you can do so on the VRChat website. Visit the page for your group, go to the Settings -> General tab, and scroll down to the "Group Ownership Transfer".

Requirements for Group Ownership Transfer

We have a few requirements that'll need to be met before we can help with a transfer. 

  • Current group owner must have been inactive on VRChat (both the website and application) for  90 or more days
  • Group must have 30 or more members
  • Group must not be monetized through VRChat's Creator Economy
  • Requester must be active within the last 7 days
  • Requester must be an admin or moderator of the group
  • Requester must be eligible for group ownership:
    • Must have a verified email address (check the Email section via account settings)
    • Must have an active VRC+ subscription for group ownership eligibility
    • Must have space to own the group (each user can own up to 5 groups)

 

If your request does not meet this criteria, we won't be able to assist, and your ticket will be closed. 

Submitting a ticket

After reviewing the requirements above, if you believe you meet the requirements and would like to make a request, you can do so at our Support Site. Submit your request under the Support Requests category with the category "I need help managing a VRChat Group".

Please make sure to use the email associated with your account to file your request. Include the following information in your request:

  • Confirmation that you've read the requirements for server ownership transfer
  • Link to the VRChat webpage of the group you're requesting ownership of (or the group ID)
  • Link to the current group owner's VRChat user webpage (or their user ID)
  • Link to your VRChat user webpage (or your user ID)

 

Once you've submitted your request, our team will review it and let you know if we're able to process the transfer.

Ownership Transfer Process

If we're able to process your transfer request, we'll first inform the inactive user that their group is being transferred.

We'll email the inactive owner and let them know that we've received a valid request for ownership transfer. They'll have 7 days to cancel the transfer if they're still active.

If the owner still hasn't responded after 7 days, we'll complete the transfer process.
